South-west of the Nyika Plateau,
the marshlands of the South Ukuru River offer a perfect contrast.
In the flat country in the west you

| find wetlands, forests, grassland,
swamp-vegetation, mopane- and Combretum- forests, while in the
east you will find hilly country. Located to the north of these
marshes is the Vwasa Swamp-animal Reserve. Thanks to the many
different habitats this area has to offer, there is a huge variety
of animals and birds to be sighted here. Many different types
of antelopes, with every species specializing in only one type
of vegetation, are the prey of lion and leopards stalking the
area. |
