| Caprivi |
 |
The Caprivi-Strip is the narrow
piece of land in the north-east of Namibia. This narrow piece
of land is named after the German Reich Chancellor,
|
 |
 |
| Caprivi, who negotiated the Helgoland/Zanzibar
exchange with England in 1890. |
| |
| Surrounded by the Zambezi, and
criss-crossed by the Chobe, Kwando and Kavango rivers, the Caprivi
Strip is definitely the richest area of water in Namibia. Four
countries Angola, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia border
on this narrow strip of land. |
| |
 |
The Caprivi also
called "the land of milk and honey just bring your
own cows and bees" is scarcely populated and underdeveloped,
but a |
 |
| much loved tourist destination,
with several parks, public campsites, and lodges available.
The East- Caprivi borders on the Chobe National Park (Botswana)
and the Victoria Falls are also quite close by. |

In central Caprivi there is the
Mamili Park (the Kwando river flows through the Mamili Park,
which is usually flooded during rainy season) and the |
 |
| Mudumu National Park. In the
west one comes across the Kavango river, the Popa Falls, and
the Mahango Game Reserve. The most attractive part of a visit
to the Caprivi, however, is the abundance of wildlife and birds.
These can be seen and watched during game drives or boat trips
on the different rivers. |
